Gay Men's Contemporary Book Group

The gay men's group began in fall 99 when I moved out full-time to the Hamptons. Though I contacted many readers and writers I knew in the area, of all sexes and sexual orientations, it was largely gay men who answered the call, and only gay men who stuck around after the first meetings. And the demographic became identity. The group, which cycles from a core of four or five to upwards of fifteen, doesn't exclusively read gay-theme or -authored books, though we like those very much. We've sometimes convinced authors to join our discussions, and asterisks indicate those special meetings. Though we're mostly a new-novel reading group, you'll note occasional excursions to memoir or books of a certain age. Please note too that a book's inclusion below is usually, but not always, a recommendation. Titles are suggested at each meeting and then voted on, and sometimes we select a book none of us knows much about. If you'd like more information about the group's reaction to a particular title, write me and I'll be happy to tell you.
